Every game begins by picking a difficulty. Easy gives you seven re-rolls to refine your draft, making it the most forgiving way to chase a strong team. Hard cuts you down to three re-rolls. Extreme gives you three full re-rolls, limits how many selections can come from the same team, and is the toughest standard mode. Custom lets you set your own re-roll count and year range, but seasons played on Custom do not earn achievements.
You can also set the range of years your draft will draw from. Want a purely modern team? Limit it to recent seasons. Fancy a classic line-up? Slide it back to the 1980s and 1990s. The year range is shared across every difficulty and is remembered between visits.
Your team is built from seven categories: your number one driver, your number two driver, your team principal, your strategist, your chassis, your engine, and your pit crew. When you draft a category, the game draws a random year from your chosen era and presents three options to choose from.
Each selection carries a performance rating. Drivers contribute racecraft, the chassis and engine set your car's raw pace, and the principal, strategist, and pit crew shape how well your team executes on race day. Reliability is influenced by your chassis, engine, and pit crew together — a stronger trio means fewer retirements over the season. Because the two drivers are drawn from the same pool, you cannot draft the same driver twice.
If you do not like your options, you can re-roll — either to see new selections from the same year, or to draw an entirely new year. Each re-roll counts against your difficulty's limit, so spending them wisely is the core strategic decision of the draft.
Once all seven slots are filled, you name your team, pick a colour, and launch the 2026 season. The game simulates all 24 races one at a time against the real 2026 grid. Each race accounts for qualifying pace, race execution, driver skill, and racing luck, including the occasional mechanical retirement that can end a driver's afternoon early.
At the end of the season you receive a full breakdown: your position in the Constructors' Championship, both drivers' standings in the Drivers' Championship, a race-by-race record of your wins, and your team's overall rating. Winning all 24 races is the ultimate goal — and the reason the game is called 24 Wins.
